Clean up on aisle 13

When something is broke, you should really consider fixing it. That’s what Toyota is trying to do. The Japanese auto maker recalled a range of vehicles recently due to faulty gas pedal systems.

Wonder what they did next?

In an effort to do the right thing – after taking notes from Tylenol a few years ago – they called in crisis communications.

As MSNBC said, “Crisis-management experts said Sunday that the recall of millions of cars and trucks isn't the Japanese auto maker's only problem: its message to Toyota owners — delivered in full-page ads Sunday in 20 major newspapers — isn't as clear and reassuring as it needs to be.”

Off to twitter to see what customers are saying now about the company… It really isn’t all that bad. No mutiny is taking place and not everyone is running to trade in their foreign cars for Fords.

The public seems to be patient – for now.

We will watch the next few weeks to see how the company handles the rest of this issue.
