The fight goes on… and on… and on.

I’m sure you have the seen the blistering warfare between wireless provider giants AT&T and Verizon Wireless… that is, unless you have been living under a rock.

This one puts the cola wars to shame by advertising dollars spent – Verizon takes second place at $3.7 billion and AT&T in third place at $3.1 billion. The budgets dwarf the cola kings – Coca Cola at $752 million and PepsiCo at $1.3 billion.

What can they do with that kind of money?

They have created an all-out brawl that pits friends, families and foes in opposite corners of the ring.

The first blow hurled by Verizon Wireless, included a twist on the iPhone’s ubiquitous catch phrase. The new one, “There’s a map for that,” played off of iPhone/AT&T users’ main complaint of poor coverage.

AT&T responded by suing Verizon Wireless
… something about the size and color of the dots… then the number two wireless provider sent a rebuttal – not only with the backing of electronic Goliath Apple, but also likeable everyman, Luke Wilson (part 1 and part 2).

Playing off the holiday season, Verizon sent the iPhone to the island of misfit toys

And, the battle continues…

Who will win?

The champion is yet to be seen. But, we are paying attention. Maybe this war will be one for the books… textbooks that is.
