Must be the Season
Summer is my favorite time of year by far. I love the warmth, the smells, the movies, but most of all I love the feeling summer brings—that extra spark of enthusiasm that makes you feel like you can do anything. You stay up later, have an extra drink when you normally wouldn’t, and be lazier all because of one magic reason: it’s summer. The freedom to do everything. The freedom to do nothing. It only comes once a year and we’re programmed to enjoy it.
I’ve always hated being told to enjoy my summers, because one day they’ll all be gone. I hate that now I want to tell my fifteen-year-old sister to not sleep until noon everyday and let her summer waste away. When did I officially become that kind of adult? I guess a few weeks ago when I graduated from college and realized that all of my youthful summers were officially spent.
My name is Sarah Perry, and I am HCK2’s newest creative services intern.
Along with loving summer, I enjoy reading, writing, and generally anything creative. Sure, I am nostalgic for my summers of freedom, but part of me is happy to have transitioned over to a new chapter. There are new experiences ahead of me that I look forward to seeing happen.
So, stay tuned, and remember to enjoy your summer. It’ll be over before you know it.
